Hello my love-monkeys!
No, I haven't been infected with the Spirit de Allan Moore. I made a decision recently. I want to share and I shall keep it brief.

I AM GOING TO BE A TATTOOIST! NOT JUST A GOOD ONE, I ASPIRE TO BE BRILLIANT!

To do this, I need to land an apprenticeship. In order to do that, I need a portfolio.
Problem: currently, I do not have a portfolio of my art. I have not serious arted for years.

I NEED INSPIRATION! A WORD, PICTURE, IDEA, PHRASE, POEM, TATTOO, GIF, ARTICLE, FIC, WHATEVER!

I need to have something showable for the Tattoo Expo in Syndey come March so I can pimp my ass off and hopefully, in addition to feedback, land myself an apprenticeship. At worst, some direction to get it done. Henceforth, in addition to crafting for mad dollars and hunting for some actual work since my boss pulled a 'you have no more full days, oh Mishka the now-Casual' right before Christmas, *breathes in* I will be drawing like crazy. All kinds of things in as many styles as possible. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm more comfortable with and yeah, it's not like even with an apprenticeship I'll be inking any skin for at least a year, let alone custom work BUT there is nothing wrong with presenting a professional image and showing that 'Hey! I totally have some mad skills. YOU SHOULD TEACH ME.'

If you want, I can tell you the origin story for this later. For now, I have a blank page, a pen and some drawing to do before I sleep. I may even draw some of the grand vision for my own skin.

CURRENTLY TAKING REQUESTS and ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED!

Just a quick update...

THE DESIGN IS DONE!
I feel so relieved that it's finished and ready to go days early! I am soo excited about this tattoo & it's not even going on my skin.
When I have the words, I'll post more about my feelings. Likely after the pictures go up.

'ello all. Been a busy week so far & it's only going to get worse. So here's the catch up....

Friday: My aunty Roz and her 3 yr old son Daniel arrive from Switzerland. Cousin Alison crashed on my floor as my uncle had picked her up from school on the way to the airport as she stays with him every weekend. Booked appointment with Ben & picked up a layby after work.

Saturday: Discover it is raining, no good when just about everything you own needs a clean. Found clothes & headed into the Metro to chillax & fangirl over pretty band boys with Anne-Marie and friendly randoms from Warilla. Got peppermint mocha - given larges when I paid for mediums so ta Starbucks. Hung around generally like a bad smell 'till Gakka arrived (late due to schitty rail) with more hanging around, met awesomess in glasses (who I've added now) then Jenn arived.

Fifty Sixx - first up. Pretty ok but ripped off every emo-band move like ever & I now know what a male Caitlyn looks like - scary (even told taffy but said he had the same expression she wears around jenn so he'd know what I was getting at). They gave us a poster afterwards, signed it & hung around talking to us. The cute gutiarist hugged me whenever he walked past, so I felt pretty special.

Bagstar - the ska. They were awesome & I kinda hit on the trombonist afterwards when purchasing some music (for the grand total of $5!). The trumpeter adorably rocked out the whole time but I didn't get to tell him since they were a back door no show :(

BILLY TALENT - OMG! Soooo goood. Their set is pretty much an imperfect image punctuated by the sharpest images and snatches of songs.... 'twas excellent. Ian's hair was marvelous & I told him so & ben somehow lost his shirt 3 songs in. Such sweethearts with thier speaches about respect and amusing anti-Bush asides. Managed to score signitures & hugs (two from Ben & Ian) and then photos despite the fact that I had the faint lingering odour of mosh clinging to my skin. Told them all thanks for comming, they were awesome and to come again 'cause we'd love to have them back. Oh yes, I now are the proud owner of a Fallen Leaves hoodie (soo comfy) and Billy Talent wrist band which is bastard child of a seatbelt and blood red paint. Did I mention that I was one back dead center - able to practiculy see minute details of Ben's pretty butterflies and other Ink?

Sunday: Recover from saturday night. After gig & fanning out, bloody trains /busses not running. Anne & Gakka got thiers but Jenn & I - nothing. Jenn crashed mine beacause of the late, no transport (not even a free cab) and like hell I was letting her walk home alone at that hour. I'm even just not that crazy. So post that & walking her back to hers in the sunning sun, it was chill & get reading all day long.

Monday: We all know what time it is.... ink! Jenn & Cara decided to grace me with thier presences, incredibly sweet of them, while I waited for show time. Have new ink: pretty phoenix. Was asked about the personal significance but couldn't answer - too soon. Then La Madre turned up & waited too... Have booked another session, which is Ben's last tattoo before he flies out to Edinburgh for a stint. He's going to shadow and highlight the snowflake, fix up (if needed) and bleed out the pheonix's black edges and he said he'll throw in a freebee! I believe that I may have his respect.

Work has been chaotic... to say the least. I managed to get flu shots in though so hopefully i'll be of the healty this winter. Looking forward to the internet workshop thursday for the pure 'it's not work' factor (despite the fact i'll have to write a report & take action from it), friday with 30 seconds to mars then 'international free comic day!' - going to Kings & maybe a cameo at Kino if i'm not terribly tired, see about the hairs then dinner with some of my fellow compatriots for Spanish!

Better be getting back... tummy is all growly and I'm working overtime tonight (yeah to the OT money)...

Mishka with the green bow.

PS - Myspaced fifty sixx & got the sweetest response from the hugging gutairist. Shall find out if they are calling blondie Katie now.

PPS - FINALLLY got my letters from Tafe saying that I've completed the course... then discovered (yesterday) that graduation is this friday night. Typical.

EDIT: Yes, the rumours are true. I was wearing corsety-clothes under my top and it worked (so what if it was the only non-lace bra non-real-corset thing clean).
Upside: not once did my back get twisted or elbowed - perfect posture and boning kept the buggers away and no bruises!
Downside: Fewer hugs since I was not soft and squisy and NOT being able to drop the posture all day and all night. Luckily mine is pretty good allready.

Good morning all *embraces warmly* Welcome to another rainy monday morning for your belated mishka update!

Thursday:
Go to House of Pain. Get tattoo. Pain - what pain. Like a low grade buzz/tingle the whole time. Looks pretty, my own design. It's a snowflake which kinda looks like a compass and is apparently 'very miska' (cheers Bryce). It's healing very well, the family does not know about it yet. You'll understand why soon.

Saturday:
AGNSW for Tezuka! exshibition. The manga-loving parts of my soul were in Nirvana gazing at framed and mounted original panels while the pure art geek was all *buzzzzz* at every single picture. Was disctracted by serialist paintings on the way out. Then to a lunch of champions, vegetable and prawn dumplings before visting Kinokuniya, one mecca of books. Oh, I also tried L&P, a drink for the absolute win from New Zealand. Then I discovered that my lemon tic-tacs have a remarkably simmilar taste. Hmmm..... yum. Still are yet to uncover a stockist of the pink grapefruit variety.
There, after i'd glazed over at the pretty and not purchased stationary I found it. THE ULTIMATE SANDMAN VOL.1 My inner geek came back out and was all "mine mine mine". Jenn, Jem and Anne-Marie all promised me love, Jenn's forever if I let her read it. So I purchased it (with 15% off, thankyou discount card) and with my more than willing accomplice carting the goods, headed off home to inspect my gold.
I arrived, most unfortunatly, 5 minutes too early. My mother + k.o. had been visiting and i'd pretty much missed them up till that point. My mother saw the ear piercings (harmless I say, not even the face. I had even told her that I was getting them) and 'slap' right across the face... in front of Jenn, no less. Ko was acting just like a 13 yo bitch, which she is. Awkward it was.
So I escaped at the next first oppertunity after what felt like an eternity (more like 2 mintues - sorry Jenn) and opened the book - choirs of angels did sing. My mind did not explode - it shall later. I let Jenn have first read - i'm planning on starting to reading it come ANZAC day. ALl was great with the world untill...
Disaster! My piercings, lobe no.2 and rook were fine but the contrast started to bleed for no good reason at all. I hadn't even bumped it! Blood everywhere! I dashed to the bathroom & stripped my shirt off - I resembled the victem of a car crash with a blood covered torso. I grabbed the first thing come to hand, my clean but used for pink hair towel (fine as it's allready stained) and applied pressure. Started to try not to panic. Failed.
Jenn of the level head calmed me down.... more than once and got me cleaned up. Then escorted me to the medical centre where half and hour after it started, the blood stopped. The doctor gave me a stern look for not remembering to apply ice to constrict the blood vessels. The nurse didn't let Jenn into the treatment room untill she had over heard her talking to the receptionist about the girl with the blood-soaked towel from her ear. I had requested that my friend be allowed in but I guess that she forgot. On the upside my Bane hoodie looks beyond hard core with bloodstains on the white lettering.
I got snacks from the new-ish (least to me) Indian place on Norton st and was escorted back home where I bravely ingested a half glass of full strength orange juice. Then it started again. Luckily I had new bandages to slap on and Jenn made me an ice pack to put on it - and the bleeding stopped quite quickly. I'd lost enough blood in the past hour anyway. I was leactured in a non leacture-y way about caring for the ear and looking after myself before La Madre arrived and Jenn left for Castle Greyskull... without Sandman. It's safe and sound in my room.

Sunday: Brewhaha
Reletivly unexciting to begin with - thought I saw Audrey in a horrific dress, but it was only a look alike. Ska music bands - nice. Didn't skank as with my cup size it's not entirely reccomended - have been offered a privite lesson to correct this problem. Trannie skank - only mocked from distance, no confrontation as i'd have bitched her out and possibly wacked her one. Honestly, more than one. Jenn handled her very well while Anne-Marie and I resisted full blown laughter at her sheer idiocy.
Toni + bf where there, always nice to run into them. The last band was much better than the first, FiveStarFriday. Hit on the gutiarist and told him that the tie he had (stolen by some emo kid) was a nice shade of purple. He was flattered, and no, I wasn't dressed as an emo kid. I swear I wasn't. Three Quarters Hazel were full of love for all - which was kinda sweet in a 'shake your hips to our tribal drumbeats'kinda way. Dinner - at the local chinese place....mmmm tasty. Very nice to eat out with some of my favourite people.

Now i'm all a working again.... desiging tattoo the next before Ben goes the Edinburgh for a 6 month stint, making hairy plans, portable hardrives and trying to find someone with XP discs that I can use to install on my new computer, which is from 2000 and is alive enough for me to install some software. Updated graphics/sound/internet once it's up and running. It's pratically new though and looks good on the desk I purchased & polished friday morning.

Untill next time.... I send you all kisses of good fortune and blood free glasses,

Mishka

Well, here it is. I want opinions. I want feedback. Most of all, I want.... well... INK. Dah mishka, dah.

Torso back (covering most):
Quetzacoatal, rainbow wings, dark grey/green hued body
Head up near nape of neck, body following the spine down to the end of the tail resting on my coxic. Wings fan out from shoulder blades and go down, possibly curving slightly around on the longer feather ends.

Limbs (themed):
LL- the verdant. Green vines and plants spiral climbing up leg (from roots lightly across foot). Include flowers, faries butterflies. Lush shades of green, birght pinks and purples.
RL – the tempest. Cyclonic air waves circling round up right leg rom light start on foot. Include a Pegasus and air sprites in air drifts. Use stormy shades of blue and gray.
LA – the placid. Calm waves flowing down left arm. Include mermaids, niskies and various other water creatures.
RA – the inferno. Flames blazing wildly down arm from shoulder junction. Have salamanders in flames and include a phoenix. Bright reds, oranges, deep pinks and yellows.

Arms - Extend to wrists, ¾ or elbow? To be decided
Legs – end just above knees, some parts higher than others.
Note: more mythical creatures to hide in the limb theme? Suggestions?

Torso front
Left breast (round outer edge) – black dragon, celtic knot-work inspired? Make sure it works with the birth mark
Right breast (round outer edge) – star shower, rainbow melding through them
Left hip – small starburst gold. Must be in sync. With existing surgical scars
Right hip – snowflake with ice cracks under neathpurple/silver
Crotch – black thorns. Dumped idea of Cerberus shadow attatched for the time being.

Other skin bits – white. The myan jigsaw-style connector piece so it looks like a complex maze, may include further small images also in white. My skin is just peaches&cream enough to pull it off. Most likely to be scrapped due to fading even though most of my skin (especially where the tattoo’s are going) aren’t ever going to see sunlight if I can help it.
