Greetings one and all,

I had a great long weekend despite starting it with a shift first thing saturday morning. I had a great time at SYDCON & even managed to win trophies! This is pretty damn good (by my standards) because a) this was my first con and b) this was my first time ever playing rpg games.
I rocked up to the venue about half an hour before my first session (1-4) on saturday afternoon. I registered, gathered my name tag (which I lost in Glebe sometime sunday morning between coffee and getting to play) and session info, got directions, got new directions and found my first game - The Lake District Needlework and Adventure Society! I was vice-president Violet, an older guns and armour expert who had a long trail of missing fiances, on the trail of a mysterious tapestry, missing hatted villin, superfuel and pragues seamy underbelly. Second session, after a breif oppertunity to eat a very late lunch/early dinner, was the Tomb of the Lost God  freeform. I was a young socialite Emily who was really enslaved by the reincarnated Pharoah who was masquerading as my best friends mothers secutiary. Unfortuanly I couldn't get anyone to rescue me but the world ended, so I ended up free anyway. Kinda.
Sunday - slept in, so missed out on scamming my way into a free session. First session was Boots freeform Signal to Noise where I was a respectable businessman who was really the worlds (& shortly the universes) most sucessfull crime boss. I not only survived, but sucessfully looted everyone elses things, arranged trade deals and immunity with everyone against everybody else before buggering off. My second and last session for the day, The Queen of Love and Beauty, I was the shy, niave, polite and reigning queen of the afore mentined daughter of the hosts who managed to get her nose in everything by making an excellent alliance early in and listening in on everything while being a gracious host. Then Jenn's purple silk top and fancy vest and my corset and skirtfor dinner at Badde Manors and failing to get into Gurlesque.
Monday morning requred getting up way to early for my sleep deprived state to get the bus back across. Luckily, coffee was the order of the morning before sigining into The Wheel Never Stops Turning. I was Kaylee, pregnet and practically barefoot but the crew of the serenity saved the day, if a little late as we ran almost an hour over. Price of Freedom was my last event, a last minute slide into. When you start a game with a massacre, superpowers and an immenent shootout you know you're in for a bit of fun. I managed to gain a Best Player for that game and for Needlework, narrowly missing (as the GM informed me later) one in the Serenity one. Then off to the pub for socialisation untill my head felt like it would implode, so I gave my farewells at what normally would have been a ridiculously early time and trudged home to crash.
Overall --- OMG SO MUCH FUN! I've learned a lot, survived and had a great time. I know I'm still proberly on a bit of a gamer high, especially as I'm all shiny and still a noob but I want to find a regular game or two, even if it's a fantasy LARP and keep gaming. It's all experience anyway, and i'd really like not to have to wait for the next CON to play again. That'd suck.
After all of this excitement it's back to work as per ususal. I've got my third drum lesson tomorrow & hopefully i've continued improving at the same rate. I'm also finally going to see West's art on thursday, some bands on friday and then to the theatre on saturday! I am, however, planning on not letting my current sleep bank get quite so depleted - at least for another week. Oh, just so you know, I finished knitting a spat (as per the pattern I found) and unfortuantly I'll need to make a few changes in order for it to be wearable by a human. Which is perfectly fine  by me, as I love dicking around with patterns and have allready pretty much thought out the necesscary changes. I'll  be completing at least one of the Turkish Delight socks first. That and i've now got a copy of Brideshead Revisited to watch and dvd's to place in LynZ's custody.

Speaking of which... I should be letting you all go.

Farewell,

~ Mishka

PS - any one with geek contacts in Sydney who run regular RPG things, please let me know. I've had a taste & now I want more.
